The YEP! Program

The YEP! program is a one-day health career academy that will expose middle school students to the multitude of options available in health care.

Students are immersed in a blend of lectures, interactive experiences and group discussions over a one day, eight-hour period.

The goal of the YEP! Program is to increase the number of middle school students, specifically minority and vulnerable populations, who are interested in pursuing a career in health care. Students from all nine counties comprising the Eastern Shore will be invited to participate in the YEP! Program. These counties include Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Somerset, Worcester, and Wicomico. The YEP! Program will allow more children to say yes to a future career in health care.

Aging Simulation Program

The program goal is to establish partnerships with high schools/ teachers to promote interest in careers in healthcare by presenting programs to high school science classes grades 9- 12.

The Age Simulation course introduces students to the aging process and how it can impair senses overtime. The instructor uses simulation glasses, hearing impairment ear plugs, dried beans in shoes and surgical gloves for arthritis. Our programs also allow students to tour medical stimulation labs at local colleges.
